Kilkenny too strong for Galway
Kilkenny 4-16 Galway 1-12
Ger Farragher pocketed two stunning sideline cuts at Nowlan Park, but even the mercurial Galway attacker could not stop Brian Cody's bandwagon rolling on in NHL Division 1A.
Kilkenny out-classed the Tribesmen as Henry Shefflin (1-07), John Hoyne (2-03) and Eddie Brennan (1-02) all found Galway captain Liam Donoghue's net.
After 16 minutes, the roof was caving in on Galway - 3-19 to 0-12 winners over Dublin last weekend - as both Hoyne and Shefflin goaled on 9 and 14 minutes.
Farragher helped them back into it, driving Galway's six points in a row, despite centre-back Liam Hodgin's receiving a yellow card.
Kevin Broderick was also on the mark as Kilkenny, with Shefflin the leading point-scorer, were reeled in slightly at 2-09 to 0-13 at half-time.
Broderick fired in a rasping goal right on the restart to inspire hopes for the visitors, however forty seconds later, Hoyne nipped in on a Martin Comerford through ball, to goal and steady the Cats.
Farragher ran up his tally 0-15 in all - including the spectacular sidelines - as Kilkenny lost Hoyne to a yellow card on the hour.
Richie Power and Willie O'Dwyer also pointed for the hosts - who now sit joint-top of the 1A table with Clare.
