Pope back in hospital
24/02/2005 - 11:02:30The Pope was taken back to hospital today after missing a Vatican ceremony on new candidates for sainthood.
The Vatican said that John Paul II was suffering a relapse of flu.
The announcement was made minutes after papal officials said the 84-year-old pontiff was cancelling a ceremony on candidates for sainthood.
The Pope returned to the Gemelli Polyclinico Hospital two weeks after his discharge after treatment for flu and breathing difficulties.
He had been convalescing and his health had appeared to be improving. He had appeared twice at the window of his studio at the Vatican to greet pilgrims.
