Visa launches chip-and-PIN information campaign

The credit card company Visa has launched a nationwide public information campaign to promote the new chip-and-PIN technology introduced in Ireland last year.

The system requires credit card users to type in a PIN number rather than sign their receipt and is designed to improve credit card security and crack down on fraud.

The technology, which has been in operation on the continent for some time, was introduced in Ireland last October.
