Dublin Port workers win discrimination compensation
16/02/2005 - 12:46:30Three dockers at Dublin Port have won compensation at the Labour Court after being discriminated against because of their age.
The men had a combined work experience of 124 years, yet were unsuccessful in their applications for jobs as permanent dockers.
The jobs went instead to three men under the age 40.
The Labour Court has now ordered their employer, Portroe Stevedores Ltd, to pay two of the men €7,000 each and the third €4,000 plus a full-time job.
