Dott sets up O’Sullivan clash

14/02/2005 - 02:44:58
Graeme Dott and Ronnie O’Sullivan will renew their recent rivalry when they meet for a place in the quarter-finals of the Riley’s Club Masters at Wembley.

Dott booked his third meeting of the campaign with the world champion, defeating fellow Scot Stephen Maguire 6-4 tonight.

And it is another chance for the world number 15 from Glasgow to avenge his world final defeat by O’Sullivan last May.

“It does not get much better than playing Ronnie at Wembley,” agreed the 27-year-old Crucible runner-up.

“But I do not think what happened in Malta will have any bearing on our game on Tuesday.”

Dott destroyed the Rocket 5-0 in the Mediterranean only for Stephen Hendry to deny him his first ranking title in last Sunday’s final.

“I felt a bit flat before the match because I have probably only done half an hour’s practice since getting back from Malta.

“But then I played well from the start,” he said after registering his first Wembley win in four attempts.
