ISEQ flirts with 6800 barrier

The ISEQ index has surged ahead in early trading this morning, briefly passing through the 6800 barrier.

The ISEQ presently stands up 45.32 at 6,777.01, having climbed beyond 6,800 to 6,801.84 at 9.30am today.

Shares in Allied Irish Bank leaped 23c to €16.08 today while Bank of Ireland shares climbed 7c to €12.85.

Anglo Irish Bank shares climbed 18c to €20.13.

Construction group Kingspan saw shares climb 10c to €8.40 today. Kingspan revealed today it will be announcing preliminary results for 2004 on Tuesday March 8.

Building materials group CRH climbed 9c to €22.09 today.

Elsewhere shares in pharmaceutical giant Elan climbed 65c today to €21.

The most traded shares today are eircom, Bank of Ireland, CRH, AIB and Ryanair.
