Moyes forced into changes for Chelsea visit

12/02/2005 - 12:37:33
Everton manager David Moyes was forced into changes for the visit of the Barclays Premiership leaders as he was without suspended full-back Tony Hibbert and injured midfielder Leon Osman.

He switched Alessandro Pistone to right-back and brought in Gary Naysmith to take the Italian’s position on the left with Marcus Bent recalled to the attack.

Chelsea’s top scorer Didier Drogba remained in London nursing a thigh injury so Joe Cole took over the attacking left-sided role with Mateja Kezman not in the squad at all and Tiago replacing Jiri Jarosik in midfield.

Everton: Martyn, Pistone, Weir, Stubbs, Naysmith, Yobo, Bent, Carsley, Cahill, Kilbane, Beattie. Replacements: Wright, Arteta, Ferguson, Plessis, Gerrard.

Chelsea: Cech, Paulo Ferreira, Gallas, Terry, Bridge, Cole, Tiago, Makelele, Lampard, Duff, Gudjohnsen. Replacements: Cudicini, Johnson, Smertin, Ricardo Carvalho, Jarosik.

Referee: M Riley (W Yorkshire)
