Fallon bags another winner stateside

12/02/2005 - 10:05:19
It was just like old times for Kieren Fallon at Gulfstream Park last night when the former champion jockey booted home another winner on the Florida course’s turf track.

Fallon resumed his partnership with Musanid, on whom he had finished third behind Muqbil in a Newbury Listed race last July when the five-year-old was trained by Sir Michael Stoute.

Musanid was well beaten when third to Orange Touch on his last run for the yard at Newmarket in August, and the son of Swain is now with Kiaran McLaughlin in the United States.

Sent off the hot favourite for a 33,000 allowance race over a mile and a half, Musanid was always well placed not far behind the pace and was sent into overdrive in the straight.

Fallon, riding in the familiar blue and white colours of Hamdan Al Maktoum, quickly picked off leader Jerry Bailey on Brickell to win comfortably by a length and three-quarters.

He was just beaten into second on another McLaughlin runner, Secret Heart, earlier on the card, and was also touched off in the shadow of the post on Glitter Mean.
