Trócaire keeps up pressure on Govt over broken aid promise
11/02/2005 - 13:26:32The Irish aid agency Trócaire is keeping up the pressure on the Government on its overseas aid commitments.
The Fianna Fáil-Progressive Democrats coalition had promised to increase overseas aid to 0.7% of GNP by 2007, but it announced last year that it would not be honouring the promise on time.
Trócaire today presented a giant Valentine's Day card to the Taoiseach's office as part of its campaign to keep up pressure on the Government to set a date for when it will meet the commitment.
