Trócaire keeps up pressure on Govt over broken aid promise

The Irish aid agency Trócaire is keeping up the pressure on the Government on its overseas aid commitments.

The Fianna Fáil-Progressive Democrats coalition had promised to increase overseas aid to 0.7% of GNP by 2007, but it announced last year that it would not be honouring the promise on time.

Trócaire today presented a giant Valentine's Day card to the Taoiseach's office as part of its campaign to keep up pressure on the Government to set a date for when it will meet the commitment.
