IMC report on Belfast robbery to be published today

10/02/2005 - 08:16:22
The Independent Monitoring Commission's report on the Belfast bank robbery is due to be published later today.

The report is expected to state that the Provisional IRA was behind the £26.5m (€38m) pre-Christmas heist.

The PSNI, backed by the Irish and British governments, have already blamed the IRA for the robbery.

Should the IMC back this assertion, it would pave the way for sanctions against Sinn Féin as punishment for the IRA's actions.
