Minister welcomes EU safeguards on salmon prices
09/02/2005 - 17:41:09Marine Minister Pat "the Cope" Gallagher has welcomed the introduction of new EC safeguard measures to help protect Irish farmed salmon sales within the EU market.
The measures involve a Minimum Import Price (MIP) of €2.70 for whole fish until April 15, 2005 and a floor price of €2.85 which will apply from April 16 to August 13 2008.
Minister Gallagher said: "The new measures will give the necessary protection that will allow them to compete successfully in the EU market."
