Government to spend €1.3bn on affordable housing
09/02/2005 - 15:33:01The Dáil has been told that the Government will spend €1.3bn on social and affordable housing projects this year.
The Minister of State with responsibility for housing was responding to Dáil questions.
Noel Ahern has said over 5,000 new houses will be constructed this year.
“We expect about 5,500 new houses will be started under the main local authority programme and of the output of the voluntary and co-operative sector will also increase.”
“In total my department will spend a record €1.3bn in exchequer funding on support for social and affordable housing this year.”
