Hendrie extends Villa contract
08/02/2005 - 14:36:16Lee Hendrie has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Aston Villa until June 2007.
The 27-year-old has had an excellent season with Villa, but in previous campaigns his indifferent form threatened his future at the club.
He told the club’s official website, www.avfc.co.uk: “I have to admit I thought my days at Villa were numbered a couple of summers ago.
“I couldn’t see any future for me under Graham Taylor and it had been intimated to me that I could leave.
“But since David O’Leary has come here things have really picked up and he has got me back playing some of my best football.
“He’s given me a lot of confidence and I’m going onto the pitch feeling good and wanting to do well for him.”
