Lucrative Leech PR contract expires today
08/02/2005 - 07:34:41Monica Leech's controversial term as PR consultant to the Department of the Environment comes to an end today.
Ms Leech, a close friend and association of Transport Minister Martin Cullen, was appointed to the €800-a-day position while Mr Cullen was in charge of the department.
The minister recommended the Waterford consultant for the job. An investigation into the matter has found no evidence of any impropriety on his behalf.
However, the controversy surrounding the matter has led the Government to scrap the position of PR adviser to the Department of the Environment following Ms Leech's departure.
