Hanafin vows to reduce primary school principals’ workload
03/02/2005 - 10:47:40Education Minister Mary Hanafin has vowed to introduce measures to alleviate the workload of primary school principals.
The Irish Primary Principals' Network has claimed that three-quarters of its members are suffering from stress due to non-educational bureaucratic tasks.
Asked about the matter this morning, Ms Hanafin said she was aware of the problems and would introduce measures to tackle them.
"We are conscious of the fact that, over recent years, much more of an administrative burden has been placed on all principals throughout the sector," she said.
"We're looking to see how we can reduce that administrative burden for them and we'll be coming up with very practical examples to try to do that."
