ISEQ creeps upwards in mid-morning trading

The ISEQ index is virtually unchanged in morning trading today, rising 0.49 points to 6,500.08.

Shares in Allied Irish Bank have risen 2c to €15.45 while shares in Bank of Ireland climbed 2c to €12.27.

Anglo Irish Bank's share price has climbed 6c to €18.78 while Irish Life & Permanent shares have slipped 5c to €14.05.

Food giant Glanbia has climbed 6c to €2.98 today following the announcement Glanbia is set to take on CMP from Dairygold in a €10.05m deal, subject to approval from the Irish Competition Authority.

Glanbia will operate the milk, cream and juice brands of CMP (Cork Milk Producers).

Shares in construction group Grafton have risen slightly today following news yesterday of a strong finish to 2004 for UK merchants. Grafton shares are up 1c to €9.31.

Meanwhile pharmaceutical group Elan has slipped back 39c today to €20.92 following yesterday's spectacular 85c gains.

The most traded shares today are CRH, eircom, Ryanair, Grafton and Readymix.
