Fallon strikes again
Kieren Fallon continued his successful riding stint in Florida last night with another winner from two rides on the Gulfstream Park card.
The former champion jockey, who paid a flying visit to Britain last week, intends to be based in Florida until April, when he will return to resume his job as stable jockey to Sir Michael Stoute.
His latest victory came on Polo Grounds for the Kiaran McLaughlin stable in a race over an extended mile on the track’s turf course.
Fallon was in mid-division for most of the way and was hampered at one stage in the back straight, but produced Polo Grounds down the outside in the home stretch.
The four-year-old, responding to a typical Fallon drive, got his head in front close home to beat New Science, having been sent off at just over 7-1.
Earlier, Fallon was just run out of a place after bringing Status through to challenge on the inside rail in a claimer, again over the turf track’s extended mile.
