Cinema attendance remains high

Cinema attendance in Ireland has remained consistently high over the past few years, unlike most other European countries where the trend has been slowing.
The numbers show 330,000 cinema admissions per week in the country, with Dublin accounting for almost half of the overall figure.
Films like Shrek 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason were big draws at the box office, but Irish movie Man About Dog was one of the success stories of the year taking €2.1m at the box office.
