Irish car prices 31% higher than European average
28/01/2005 - 08:45:36Cars bought in Ireland cost 31% more than the European average, according to a new survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers based on car prices across Europe.
The survey shows that after-tax, Irish prices are among the highest in the EU, despite the fact that Irish pre-tax costs are among the lowest in Europe.
France represents the EU average of 100%, while Britain is just above the mean at 106%, and Denmark is the most expensive place to buy a car with prices reaching over twice the average at 201%.
Car prices went up by an average of 2.4% in Western Europe in the last year, but Ireland was slightly below this figure with an increase of 2%.
