FA wait for ref's report after Boro fracas
17/01/2005 - 10:37:06The Football Association will await the arrival of referee Dermot Gallagher’s match report before deciding whether to take action over the 16-man melee during Middlesbrough’s 1-1 draw with Everton yesterday.
Duncan Ferguson’s challenge on prone goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer sparked a mass pushing and shoving match which spilled over into the Boro net and involved most outfield players from both sides.
No one was punished at the time but Gallagher called over both captains in an attempt to calm down the situation.
“It is a bit early [to be making a decision on the incident],” said an FA spokesman.
“When we get the referee’s report we will look at that to see if there is any further action [needed].”
