Most consultants charge more than €100 to see private patients

A survey conducted by the Irish Medical Times has reportedly found that half of Irish hospital consultants charge more than €100 to see patients privately.

Reports in the newspaper today said some consultants questioned as part of the survey charged upwards of €175 to see private patients, while around a third of respondents charged between €75 and €100.

Three per cent of consultants also said they worked less than 33 hours a week, while 17% said they worked more than 65 hours a week.
