Hearing into Ringaskiddy incinerator to be held next month

14/01/2005 - 12:59:52
The Environmental Protection Agency is to hold an oral hearing next month into the toxic waste incinerator planned for Ringaskiddy, Co Cork.

Indaver Ireland, the company behind the plans, said today that it had received notification of a hearing planned for Monday, February 14.

The company also said the EPA had confirmed that it would not be setting a date for a hearing into a separate Indaver incinerator planned for Carranstown, Co Meath, until the Ringaskiddy case is completed.

Both facilities have already received planning permission and the EPA has issued draft licences to Indaver, but final licences will not be issued until all sides express their opinions at the upcoming oral hearings.

Local residents are vehemently opposed to both incinerators.
