07/01/2005 - 08:32:55Best Mate continues on the road to recovery after what was a Christmas to forget for the triple Cheltenham Gold Cup hero.
The nine-year-old had to play second fiddle to Beef Or Salmon in the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown, running on ground connections felt was against him and also having sustained a head wound on the journey over the Irish Sea.
He was then found to be coughing.
But Terry Biddlecombe, husband and assistant trainer to Henrietta Knight, said yesterday: “He had a nice long hack this morning and he is a very happy horse. Everything seems to be fine.”
