FG says planned new airline bad news for Aer Lingus
07/01/2005 - 10:37:13Fine Gael has used reports of a planned new low-cost airline to criticise the Government's handling of the state airline, Aer Lingus.
Reports this morning said the Aer Lingus management team who handed in their resignations last year were planning to set up a new low-cost operator serving the Irish, European and US markets.
Fine Gael spokesperson Olivia Mitchell said that, if this were true, it would be good news for the travelling public, but very bad news for the national carrier.
"It's certainly a challenge that [Aer Lingus] is very poorly poised at the moment to meet. The Government really has to start making decisions for Aer Lingus," she said.
