Astronomy Ireland to hold comet-watch events tonight

07/01/2005 - 10:12:23
Astronomy Ireland is holding a number of events across the country tonight for people interested in seeing a bright comet in the southern skies.

Machholz, a young comet with two distinctive tails, will be visible for the rest of this month, but Astronomy Ireland said the best time to see it was over the coming week.

Astronomer David Moore said the comet should be visible high up in the southern sky and would look like a fuzzy star or a small piece of cloud.
