Elan chairman steps down

Ireland-headquartered pharmaceutical company Elan has announced the resignation of Garo Armen as chairman of the board.

At the recommendation of the board's nominating committee, Kyran McLaughlin is assuming the non-executive chairmanship of the board of directors. Dr Armen will remain as a member of the board of directors.

This change is effective immediately.

Kyran McLaughlin was appointed a director of Elan in January 1998. He is head of capital markets and deputy chairman at Davy Stockbrokers. He is also director of Ryanair Holdings plc and is a director of a number of private companies.
