139,703 confirmed dead in tsunami
05/01/2005 - 07:42:58At least 139,703 people are reported dead around southern Asia and as far away as Somalia on Africa’s eastern coast, most killed by massive tsunamis that smashed coastlines after a magnitude 9 earthquake off Indonesia’s coast December 26.
The United Nations estimates the total number of dead will exceed 150,000.
