ISME condemns Government planning decision
05/01/2005 - 16:55:57Independent business organisation ISME has condemned the decision by the Government to remove the cap on retail planning guidelines, branding it as a direct attack on smaller indigenous retailers and suppliers.
The decision, which could see IKEA set up a giant outlet in Dublin, was lashed as "shortsighted" and ISME warned it will leading to company closures and job losses.
An ISME statement said: "If the Government is serious about tackling the cost environment, maybe they should get their own house in order first before threatening the livelihoods of a considerable number of small business owners and their employees."
