Priest attacked by house raiders
31/12/2004 - 14:59:49A priest was attacked by two men armed with a hammer after they broke into his home in Cork city, gardaí said today.
Two men in their 20s raided the house in the Glen area in the north of the city at around 4am this morning.
The pair assaulted the priest with a claw hammer before making off with a mobile phone and other possessions.
The priest, who is in his 50s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment. He was not thought to be seriously injured and was later released.
Gardaí in the city are investigating.
