Tiutchev to undergo tests
Connections of Tiutchev are to send the gelding for a full scale overhaul at the Royal Veterinary College in Bristol to find out the extent of the injury he sustained in the King George VI Chase on St Stephen's Day.
Having never travelled well during the race, Tiutchev was found to be lame in a hind leg after being pulled up by Richard Johnson early on the second circuit.
Jerry Wright, spokesman for owners the Liars Poker Partnership, said: “We’re pretty sure he sustained the injury when he collided in mid-air with Lord Sam at the fence in front of the stands. Richard let him jump a couple more but then wisely put on the brakes.
“Martin Pipe’s vets have found him to be lame behind but they could find nothing wrong with his back and we’ve decided the best thing is to take him to Bristol for a thorough scan.”
