Crainey may miss rest of Leeds' season

Leeds defender Stephen Crainey could be ruled out for the rest of the season after failing to recover from a pelvic injury.

The former Southampton man, who has not played for United since the beginning of October, is suffering from Osteitis Pubis, a condition that affects the pelvis causing pain during and after exercise.

Crainey had hoped that six weeks of rest would allow him to make a full recovery, but he has now been told he needs surgery to cure the problem.

“Unfortunately for Stephen, it looks as though he might require an operation, and if that’s the case then we have lost him for the rest of the season,” Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell told the club’s official website www.lufc.co.uk.

“We were asked to wait six weeks to see if he would overcome the situation, and we’re in the fifth week now. To be honest, it’s not looking good.”
