UCC purchases Ó Riada Archive
22/12/2004 - 15:57:23University College Cork has purchased the Seán Ó Riada Archive thanks to a €500,000 grant.
The university was helped with financial assistance from the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism.
A further €100,000 is being made available to the University towards security, conservation and public exhibition of the collection.
The Ó Riada Archive comprises a vast collection of documents, papers and correspondence together with some personal artefacts of the late Seán Ó Riada.
Ó Riada achieved fame as a musician, composer, playwright and revivalist of Irish music.
