Police smash major veterinary drug op
22/12/2004 - 13:26:03Gardaí and PSNI officers have broken up a major operation involving the manufacture of counterfeit and unauthorised veterinary medicines.
€1.4m worth of fake veterinary drugs was seized during cross-border raids this morning. Large quantities of raw materials for making illegal medicines were also seized along with thousands of bottles and labels.
The British government's Northern Ireland Office said the drugs, which contained antibiotics, could have been highly dangerous to both humans and animals.
