ISEQ gets back in black today
The ISEQ managed to regain losses incurred over the past two days, climbing 26.16 points today to close at 6,172.77.
Financial stocks fared well today. Allied Irish Bank shares lifted 13c to 15.08 while Bank of Ireland stocks edged 4c higher to E12.04.
Anglo Irish shares climbed 7c to 17.92 while Irish Life & Permanent rose 5c to 13.65.
Media group Independent News & Media climbed 4c today to E2.30. INM announced today it is to take a 26% stake in Indian newspaper publishing group Jagran Prakashan Private Limited, subject to Indian government approval.
Shares in business support group DCC climbed 20c today to E16.25. The High Court case brought by Fyffes against DCC and James Flavin has been adjourned until January 11. Shares in Fyffes were up 1c to E1.89.
Meanwhile pharmaceutical giant Elan fell 11c today to E19.19.
Distribution and manufacturing group Unidare had a better day, with shares climbing 20c to E3.
The most traded shares today were Bank of Ireland, Anglo Irish Bank, AIB, Fyffes and Ryanair.
