IHF angry at Galway rates decision
22/12/2004 - 14:30:44The Galway Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) today hit out at the decision by Galway County Council to increase rates in the county by 8%.
This is more than three times the rate of inflation and comes on top of a 33% increase over the past three years, according to the IHF.
Paul O'Meara, chairman, Galway Branch, IHF said the hotel and tourism sector is suffering in the region after a difficult tourism year and this increase portrays a lack of understanding of the commercial realities of doing business in the region.
The branch called for an immediate meeting with the Mayor and the County Manager.
