17 Irish firms to create 495 new jobs
09/12/2004 - 11:37:52Enterprise Minister Micheál Martin has announced plans by 17 Irish companies to create almost 500 jobs over the coming three years.
Mr Martin said the 495 new jobs would result from a €29m investment in the 17 firms by Enterprise Ireland, the Government agency responsible for developing Irish industry.
The companies benefiting from the investment are located in Carlow, Monaghan, Meath, Dublin, Galway, Westmeath, Offaly, Cork and Louth.
Mr Martin said €17m of the Enterprise Ireland funding would be linked to applied research and development in nine of the 17 companies.
"It is particularly important that these companies are creating challenging jobs at a regional level which are necessary to attract and retain a high-skilled workforce," he said.
