09/12/2004 - 15:23:40
British publisher Trinity Mirror today said its sports newspapers were its star performer in the second half as it reported trading in line with expectations.

The group said the sports titles, which include the Racing Post and horse-racing form book publisher Raceform, lifted circulation revenues by 5.8% in the five months to November.

Trinity’s UK national titles, which include the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and The People, lifted 3.3%, while its Scottish national titles moved up 0.8%.

Trinity, which has around 250 titles and 11,500 staff, has launched an efficiency drive and moves to improve circulation volumes under chief executive Sly Bailey.

Trinity said today that group like-for-like advertising revenues, excluding the Irish regional titles disposed of in January, had increased by 4.2% year-on-year.
