19/11/2004 - 14:42:13
A potential audience of two billion people will be able to vote for Miss World this year for the first time, it emerged today.

Viewers will be able to vote through their televisions or by phone, sms text and email.

Last year, about 2.3 billion people watched pop star Chris de Burgh’s daughter Rosanna Davison claim the crown as Miss Ireland.

American Nancy Randall has been tipped by the bookies as the favourite at 8-1 for this year’s contest which is taking place in Sanya, China.

The competitors arrived in China on November 8 and are going through a series of mini-heats, fighting to win the talent, beachwear, sport, fashion and own choice categories.

The winner of each section is immediately fast-tracked through to the final on December 4.

10 of the 108 contestants are chosen on the Miss World… You Decide programme on November 26.

The last 15 will go through to the final and the one with the most votes will claim the title.

Miss World... You Decide will be screened on Sky Travel at 9pm on November 26 and the final will shown on the same channel on December 4 at 7.30pm
