Bening - Mrs Warren Beatty - sets herself up for a possible Oscar nod with a gripping performance as a troubled, ageing actress who knows that the good times are coming to an end with the growing lines and lost pizzazz.
When she meets and falls in love with a younger man there is the unspoken terror wondering if he loves her for herself or for what being with her could do for him?
It is, from the excellent Bening, a rollercoaster of a performance, one which will touch a cord with that vast army of once beautiful and successful and now ageing citizens who wonder if the young arm candy is being honest.
