Adams hits out at 'mischievous' reports

The Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has accused the media of engaging in mischievous journalism.

He was reacting to reports members of the clergy had allegedly agreed to assist in witnessing arms decommissioning.

Speaking on his way into Government Buildings in Dublin, Gerry Adams said certain people are always engaging in mischief at sensitive times.

“There are all sorts of rumours and speculation and people want to be asserting themselves and feeling their sense of importance and I have to include some journalists among that.”

“None of these matters are agreed, none of these matters are closed upon and it is the reportage of speculation as fact which I take exception to.”
