Revised Junior Cert exam could include English oral

Junior Cert students could soon face a compulsory oral and listening test in English as part of a revamp of the exams.

A report seen by the Irish Independent suggests the current assessment of two written exam papers may not be the best way of testing the language.

It also recommends reducing the content in a number of Junior Cert subjects, including History, Business, Home Economics and Music, because the syllabus is too large to be covered in the time available.
