Ireland could face EC action over illegal dumping
16/11/2004 - 16:20:28The European Commission has warned that it may take legal action against the Republic of Ireland over the issue of illegal dumping in the North.
The commission has told DUP MEP, Jim Allister that an investigation has found that much of the waste in the illegal landfill sites in the North originates from the Republic.
The Commission has assured Mr Allister that if it concludes that community law is being breached, it will not hesitate to take infringement procedures against the Republic.
