Greens: Return tax credits to employees

16/11/2004 - 12:10:13
The Green Party has called for tax credits to be returned to employees, and for tax exemption in the horse breeding industry to be abolished.

The proposals are part of a package of measures published by the Greens for inclusion in Brian Cowen's first Budget.

They have also called for a scheme to ensure that overseas-based Irish millionaires do pay tax in this country.

The Greens want changes in tax bands to bring in a fairer system of payment.

The Party also said employers should incur penalties and interest for delaying compensation claims awarded to employees.

And they want the compulsory retirement age of 65 to be lifted to allow older people to work longer.
