Magazines group Emap racks up sales

16/11/2004 - 10:46:44
UK magazines and radio group Emap today said a good advertising performance from key titles helped it rack up a 2% rise in half year pre-tax profits to £96m (€137m).

Emap said its consumer magazine advertising revenues lifted by 3% in the six months to September 30, with strong growth from its heat, Closer and ZOO titles.

Growth also came from Empire, Arena, More, Max Power and Angling Times, with advertising for toiletries, cosmetics, films and DVDs, food, drinks and snacks all strong across the women’s and men’s portfolios.

Emap said it continued to make good progress across its portfolio with improved revenues, market share and profitability, although the group’s French operations continued to face tough advertising conditions.

Emap group chief executive Tom Moloney said Emap was on track for the current financial year and looked forward to delivering good future growth.

“This has been achieved in a trading environment which continues to be competitively intense, particularly in France,” Mr Moloney said.
