Hanafin announces €82m extra funding for higher education

Higher education in Ireland has received a boost today with the announcement of 10 high-priority programmes costing €82m.

The Minister for Education Mary Hanafin today outlined how the funding is aimed at advancing the development of the higher education system over the coming years.

Minister Hanafin said that teacher training colleges, psychology and physiotherapy are among some of the areas that will reap the benefits of the funding.

She emphasised that the areas most in need of support will get first priority.
