Waterford 'won't make it easy for Shels'
Waterford United player-manager Alan Reynolds has promised eircom League leaders Shelbourne a difficult night at Tolka Park tomorrow night as the Dubliners try to close out the championship.
With two games to play in the title run-in Shels have seen their lead cut to three points by second-placed Cork City and can ill afford a defeat in their remaining matches.
Waterford visit them tomorrow evening and Reynolds insists victory still matters to his side as well.
"We need to secure as many points as possible and Shels are a little vulnerable right now,” Reynolds told club website waterfordunited.ie.
“They lost to Longford and, with Cork breathing down their necks, they will obviously be looking for a win to secure the title in front of their own fans.
"But our lads are up for the game and, having beaten them last time out, we hope we can take another three points on Friday night."
Reynolds, coming to the end of his first season as player-manager already has an eye on the 2005 campaign and a number of his current squad are coming to the end of their contracts.
"I've had a number of meetings with the chairman and the board and we are close to finalising budgets and plans for next season.
“When these discussions are complete, I will be in a position to talk to those who are out of contract and look at other potential signings as well.
"At the moment there has not been any decisions made but I've got to think about it in the next few weeks."
