ISEQ up, Waterford down
The ISEQ closed up 18.05 points this afternoon at 5605.96.
Following its AGM and the announcement that the company is close to a takeover of British rival Royal Doulton, Waterford Wedgwood lost 4c (32.6%) to close at €0.09.
Having announced an extension to its autumn seat sale, Ryanair gained 10c (2.8%) to close at €3.72.
Elan continued its upward trend, gaining 33c (1.8%) to €18.83.
Heavy trading saw building materials group CRH pick up 11c to end the day at €18.65.
It was a mixed day for the financials. AIB lost 11c to close at €13.59, while Anglo Irish Bank and Irish Life & Permanent both saw 10c gains, closing at €15.30 and €13.00 respectively.
Bank of Ireland was the day’s busiest share, but only gained 1c to €10.65.
Food and beverage group C&C dropped 2c to €2.52, while eircom was down 1c at €1.58.
