House prices continue relentless climb
House prices in Ireland rose by 7.8% in the first nine months of this year, a slight fall on the 9.4% increase recorded in the same period last year, according to figures released today by permanent TSB.
The financial institution's latest house price index showed average prices increased by 0.9% in September, virtually the same level recorded in June, July and August.
On an annual basis, the index showed house prices had increased by 12% in the year to September, compared to 13.8% in the previous 12-month period.
Permanent TSB said the figures indicated continued robust growth in the housing market, albeit at a slower rate than recent years.
It said the average price of a house in Ireland in September was just over €252,000. The average price paid for houses in Dublin was more than €330,000, compared to €222,000 in areas outside the capital.
