Button loses battle to join Williams
20/10/2004 - 18:16:53Jenson Button tonight lost his battle to join Williams next season.
The Englishman signed a deal with Williams in August but his case went before Formula One’s contract recognition board (CRB) when current team BAR disputed the move.
BAR have always claimed they are the only team with a binding contract for 2005 with Button.
The CRB today ruled in favour of BAR, ordering Button to drive only for them next season.
The CRB’s ruling is final, with uper licences necessary to compete in Formula One given out only to drivers whose contracts are adjudged to be acceptable.
