Allen set to take over from O'Grady's post

20/10/2004 - 19:42:53
John Allen is set to be ratified as the Rebels' new hurling boss at the Cork county board meeting next week.

Selector Allen was favourite to succeed Donal O’Grady, who resigned the position following Cork's All-Ireland victory over Kilkenny last month.

It’s believed the players are anxious for one of the backroom team to take over and lead the champions into the 2005 campaign.

Allen is a school teacher in Togher, Cork.

He was a member of the Cork panel that won the three-in-a-row in the '70s.
